Interior design

Asturias, Gijón

A well-designed space doesn’t just look good: it feels good to live in. The difference between an interior that works and one that doesn’t rarely comes down to budget — it comes down to design decisions. How the space is laid out, how light enters, what materials are chosen and how they work together.

At AGHO Arquitectura, we understand interior design as a natural extension of architecture: not a cosmetic final layer, but an integral part of the design process from the very beginning. We work in Asturias with private clients, businesses and developers who want spaces that reflect who they are and work for what they need.

Residential interior design

Every home reflects the people who live in it. That is why, before proposing anything, we take the time to understand how you live, what you value and what you want to change. From there, we develop an interior design proposal that is coherent with the architecture of the space, your lifestyle and your budget.

We work across layout, material and finish selection, lighting, fitted furniture and supplier coordination. The result is interiors with their own logic, a distinctive aesthetic and a long service life. No transient trends that date in two seasons.

Our recent projects in Gijón illustrate this approach well: from the calm contemporary feel of Apartment MI, designed for a young family, to the understated elegance of Apartment LI, conceived to complement the furniture a couple has gathered over a lifetime.

Commercial spaces and hospitality design

A well-designed venue is a business tool. It communicates brand identity, guides the customer experience, optimises the team’s workflow and becomes a genuine differentiator from the competition.

At AGHO Arquitectura, we design retail spaces, restaurants, bars, hotels and hospitality venues with the same rigour we apply to residential architecture. We address both visual impact and functionality: circulation, acoustics, lighting, accessibility regulations and use.

We are currently developing, in collaboration with Estela Arbesú of Luanco Arquitectura and Laura Luzán of Laura Luzán Arquitectura, the interior design for a new hotel in Asturias — a project that brings together individual identity, comfort and elegance.

Materials, finishes and supplier coordination

One of the keys to a successful interior design project is the rigorous selection of materials and finishes. It is not enough for something to look good in a render: it has to perform over time, be easy to maintain and be available within the programme of works.

We work with a trusted network of suppliers in Asturias and nationally, and we accompany the client through the entire selection process: samples, comparative quotes, showroom visits. The goal is for you to make the best decisions with all the information on the table.

Frequently asked questions about interior design in Asturias

What is the difference between an interior architect and an interior decorator?

An architect can take on both the technical project for the works (layout, structure, building services, permits) and the interior design. A decorator typically works on an already completed space without involvement in the technical side. At AGHO Arquitectura, we integrate both dimensions: we design the space from the very beginning, which ensures greater coherence in the final result.

We work across all types of space: homes, retail units, restaurants, hotels and other facilities. Each typology has its own functional, regulatory and aesthetic requirements, and at AGHO Arquitectura we have experience across all of them.

Yes, we offer a comprehensive service that goes beyond the technical project. As well as the layout, materials, finishes, fitted furniture and lighting, we can also manage the selection, procurement and coordination of loose furniture and decorative elements. The idea is that you can step back from the entire process and receive the space fully finished and ready to move into or open. If you prefer, we can also limit our involvement to the project and guide you through the selection without managing purchases directly: we adapt the service to what you need.

Fees for an interior design project depend on the floor area, the complexity of the commission and the scope of services contracted. They are generally calculated as a percentage of the construction budget or as a rate per square metre. Tell us about your project and we’ll put together a proposal tailored to your situation.

Yes. We work with 3D visualisations and material samples that allow you to explore the space virtually before work begins. You can see the finishes, layout and lighting in considerable detail, which makes decision-making much easier and significantly reduces surprises during construction.
